Waste Reduction and Recycling
Copiers and printers are programmed to print double-sided copies
Unwanted mail (junk mail) is reduced and eliminated
We have a recycling program that includes Aluminum Cans, Cardboard, Glass,

Email and voicemail are used to lessen printing
Memos are centrally posted or have been eliminated
Old towels and table linen are reused or recycled
Unwanted furniture and appliances are repaired or donated
A use reduction plan for cleaning chemicals is in place

Water that is used for our landscaping comes from the Intracoastal Waterway
Food thawed in refrigeration units, not with running water
Parking lots and sidewalks are routinely swept rather than rinsed with water
Native vegetative buffers are used to protect lakes and rivers
Drought – resistant plants are used
Air Quality
Bike racks are provided
A carpooling program is promoted to employees
Green Seal-certified cleaning products are used throughout the facility – glass
cleaner, floor cleaner, bathroom cleaner, dish soap for sinks, and pot and pan
soap
Low-VOC paint is used for interior use only
Sustainable Food
25 percent of our food and beverage served is certified organic
75 percent of our food and beverages do not contain added hormones or
antibiotics
We are a participant of South Carolina “fresh on the menu”
All seafood purchases are on the “green list”
Green Lodging
Bed linens, towels, and wash cloths are used for other purposes rather than
thrown away
A policy is in place to recycle mattresses
Newspapers are centralized and delivered by request only
Glasses and mugs are used instead of disposables in guest rooms
