It’s that wonderful time of year again…things are blooming as nature comes back to life after the winter, temperatures are getting warmer, days are getting longer–spring is almost here! It may feel like we just rang in the New Year a few days ago, but we are already in March…spring is most definitely on its way! Spring in Myrtle Beach means the summer season is just around the corner, and the closer we get to summer, the more there is to see and do. Why should you come enjoy spring in Myrtle Beach? Here a just a few reasons:
While some parts of the country may still be covered in snow and ice, here in Myrtle Beach, temperatures start warming up this time of year. Shake those wintertime blues with a little Myrtle Beach sunshine on your skin and breathe in the fresh salt air. The mild weather makes getting out to enjoy spring leisure activities and events all the more enjoyable.
When the weather warms up, so do the activities! With the spring season comes many special events. Celebrate the luck of the Irish with the 32nd Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade (Mar. 14), for auto enthusiasts, enjoy the annual Run to the Sun Car Show (Mar. 19-21), and for our neighbors to the North, there’s the 60th Annual Can-Am Days (Mar. 14-22). April has a full calendar of events as well with the Horry County Fair, the Blue Crab Festival, Monday After the Masters Charity Golf Tournament, and of course, Easter, the true kickoff to the Myrtle Beach tourist season. Marina Inn at Grande Dunes’ Easter Package is one of the best offers in town!
With some of the warmer days we’ve been having, the trees, shrubbery and flowers will be blooming anytime, if they haven’t already. Spring brings an all new palette of delightful colors, and as the temperatures get warmer, the outdoors will be that much more fun. This is the perfect time of year to spend a day at Brookgreen Gardens, go for a scenic bike ride, take a stroll on the beach, or enjoy some outdoor dining.
Although business is already picking up, with the kids still in school and not being in high season mode just yet, the spring crowds are pretty moderate. You can still enjoy area attractions, shopping and dining without long lines and lengthy wait times. It’s a great time to enjoy a quiet, romantic dinner, a leisurely day of shopping at one of the area’s various outdoor shopping destinations, or live entertainment at one of Myrtle Beach’s many theater shows.
It’s no wonder Myrtle Beach is known as the “Golf Capital of the World”. With more than 80 courses in the area, there is something for everyone from the novice to the pro, and March is the official peak of Myrtle Beach golf season. You may still be shoveling snow back home, but here in Myrtle Beach where the average high for March is 68 degrees, you can be out on the greens in short sleeves soaking up the Carolina sun! The comfortable temperatures, endless courses, and numerous dining and entertainment options make Myrtle Beach a perfect springtime golf destination. Find deals on our Golf Package page.
One of the best things about coming to Myrtle Beach in the spring are the deals! Since it’s not quite high season yet, rates are generally lower this time of year. Everyone is eager to get the season off to a strong start, so incentives and special offers are numerous. Check our Special Offers page for our latest deals, and let’s get your springtime Myrtle Beach adventure started!

In any event, Myrtle Beach will be booming as we usher in the New Year, and Marina Inn at Grande Dunes truly has the best party (and best deal) in town!
Our Annual New Year’s Eve event begins at 7:30 p.m. on December 31 with an hour long lavish reception consisting of butler passed hors d’oeuvres, a grand seafood display featuring crab claws, jumbo shrimp and cocktail oysters, and premium spirits and select wines will be served as well. Following the reception, guests will move into the Nautilus ballroom to enjoy a meticulously presented four course meal created by Executive Chef, Byron Bondoc. Dance the night away to the sounds of the Grand Strand’s own, Tim Clark Band, and welcome 2020 with a traditional New Year’s celebration at midnight complete with balloon drop!
Admission for the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes Annual New Year’s Eve event is $139 per person which includes all food and beverages for the night, live entertainment, and party favors. Want to simply take the elevator home? Starting at just $400 per couple, you can attend the New Year’s Eve reception, dinner and party, and enjoy luxury accommodations for the night at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. Reservations for the New Year’s Eve event must be made in advance by calling 843-913-1333. Click here to make your New Year’s Eve package/accommodations reservations or to check for availability.
Perhaps you’d like to ring in the New Year in Myrtle Beach, but do your own thing for the night…no problem! Here are a few suggestions for celebrating New Year’s Eve in Myrtle Beach:
A Southern Times Square – Market Common
You’ve heard of New Year’s Eve in Times Square and the ball drop, but how about watching an enormous disco ball drop in Myrtle Beach to ring in 2020? Market Common is once again hosting its “A Southern Times Square” to usher in 2020. This outdoor festival is an ultimate block party with revelers gathering to enjoy live music, food, and libations. Inflatables, street performers and activities will be available for younger party goers as well. Just before midnight, everyone joins together at Valor Park to watch as the sparkly, shiny ball is lowered. When the clock strikes midnight, a massive fireworks display will illuminate the sky. It all begins at 9 p.m.
Light up the New Year – Brookgreen Gardens
Didn’t make it to Nights of a Thousand Candles? Not to worry, enjoy a similar experience on New Year’s Eve. Walk through the magical gardens illuminated by hand lit candles and holiday lights while music plays in the background. Light refreshments will also be available for purchase. This event only runs from 6-9 p.m., so perhaps venture to the nearby Murrells Inlet MarshWalk to finish out the night and ring in 2020!
Murrells Inlet MarshWalk
Visit the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina” for a New Year’s Eve feast, and stay for live entertainment. Enjoy the many levels of dining from casual to fine dining. Many MarshWalk restaurants will be offering dinner and drink specials for New Year’s Eve. Take a stroll down the MarshWalk after dinner and take in the various live music offerings. Rest assured, you’ll be in good company when 2020 arrives!
In addition to the New Year’s Eve celebrations listed above, there are also several fireworks displays on tap for welcoming 2020!
Barefoot Landing | 7 p.m.
Broadway at the Beach | 8 p.m.
Market Common | 12 a.m.
We hope to see you at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes to celebrate the New Year!
Myrtle Beach is the sun fun capital of summertime destinations, but there is also great holiday fun to be had on the Grand Strand as well! It may be quiet in the winter months (who’s complaining?), but during the holidays, there are plenty of opportunities for fun! Making a beach trip this holiday season? We have some options to get you into the holiday spirit!
Myrtle Beach is known for its music theaters, and during the holiday season, area theaters put on sell out Christmas shows each year. A great light show is sure to get you in the holiday mood, and the Grand Strand is the home to the granddaddy of all light shows, Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles. Held at the 9,127-acre sculpture gardens in Murrells Inlet, this holiday spectacular features 4,500 hand-lit candles and countless twinkling lights of various types and colors. Guests can stroll through the gardens taking in the sights and sounds of the season. Nights of a Thousand Candles runs every Thursday through Sunday night in December, but you must purchase tickets in advance. How about a drive by light show? Head up to North Myrtle Beach and check out the Great Christmas Light Show at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. We even offer a holiday shopping package which includes a $50 Visa gift card!
